Pop Up Film Residency
Artichoke in co-operation with Tatino Films (France) is the organizer of the Pop Up Film Residency, a programme of film residencies for international filmmakers headed by Matthieu Darras. Pop Up Film Residency is an international network of filmmakers who act as hosts for tailor-made writing and script-editing residencies in various cities around the world. The hub of the organization is based in Bratislava, Slovakia, where producer Juraj Krasnohorsky together with Matthieu Darras act as hosts. The programme is managed by Soňa Balážová.
The programme is realized with financial support of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund (AVF), Bratislava Self-Governing Region (Bratislavský samosprávny kraj – BSK), Goethe Institute Bratislava et Institut Culturel Français à Bratislava.
Each residency is organized with co-operation and financial support of prestigious international platforms such as Cannes Critics’ Week, DOHA Film Institute and many others (full list of partners).
Programme Description
The Pop Up Film Residency intends to bring the best of what artistic residencies usually offer, together with a truly individualized mentorship program. Each residency is unique, specific to the needs of the project, and as a matter of fact only hosts one resident at a time. Bratislava is the first venue and is thought of as a hub, however the Pop Up Film Residency is a concept that may literally hatch out anywhere un-expectedly. After a pilot edition in 2018, hosting the Greek filmmaker Jacqueline Lentzou, the Pop Up Film Residency will launch a dozen of residency programs in 2019, mostly in collaboration with various prestigious film initiatives.
